Contracts for Doric Biogas Portfolio
Doric Energy is about to sign a contract for the development of two biogas plants with a planned electrical output of 844kW each. Having fulfilled the investment criteria of the Doric Green Power fund, the site in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany, is the first of a total of five sites, which the Doric Energy team is looking to develop as a biogas portfolio. We expect the Federal Immission Control Act permits required under Germany’s environmental legislation to be granted for the first sites in the first quarter of 2008.
Doric’s engineers and project partners have planned the technical design of the plants in accordance with current and future German legislation, ensuring that the plant’s profitability will not be compromised once the new EEG 2009 (Renewable Energy Sources Act) comes into force.
The plant has been specifically designed to be fuelled by a number of different substrates, including liquid manure and dung, thus ensuring steady feeding of the plant as well as enhancing its profitability. The long-term supply of substrates has been contractually secured. Besides the sale of electricity, the produced heat will be sold to local businesses, thereby increasing not only the profitability of the plant but also its positive impact on the environment.
