PRESS RELEASE 01-11-2007
DORIC ASSET FINANCE OFFERS NEW INVESTMENT IN ALTERNATIVE ENERGY
Doric Green Power
The construction of the world's largest bioenergy park in Penkun, Germany, consisting of 40 individual biogas plants, is nearing completion. Doric Energy is now pursuing further investments in the Renewable Energy sector. As part of the 'Doric Green Power' fund, a selection of alternative energy projects is being developed. The equity is projected at EUR 100m (including EUR 500,000 equity contribution from Doric). The total investment volume is projected at EUR 200m.
Concept
The investment is structured as a portfolio fund, which combines several possibly smaller projects. The locations are mainly, but not exclusively, within Europe and are chosen by the Doric Energy team according to investment criteria such as climate and geographical factors, local contacts but also long-term subsidy structures and feed-in tariffs. In terms of project development timing, this portfolio concept offers further advantages: 'Projects in the Renewable Energy sector often have long lead times. The site and the supply of raw materials need to be secured. In addition, applying for planning permission and generally dealing with the different authorities can be very time consuming' Matthias Böhm, managing director of Doric Green Power, comments. 'With funding in place at an early stage we can act quickly and thereby gain an important head start when securing projects.'
'We are very hands-on at all stages, from early talks with project partners, to project analysis, application for permits, construction supervision to continual asset management', Doric's engineer Jürgen Rose adds. For Doric Energy, asset management means the continual supervision of the plants, the active involvement during test runs and final inspections, but also the proactive optimisation of technical processes. For instance, the filter technology used in the fertiliser plant in Penkun is currently under review. 'There are always a few surprises, that's part of being on the forefront of technology, but we have experienced partners and a good team who monitor technical procedures on every project.'
Expertise
Research is moving fast, manufacturers of 'green' technology are establishing themselves and the industry is becoming more and more competitive. Different technologies of alternative energy production are evaluated by the team in cooperation with external experts, so that operational risks are identified at an early stage and reduced as far as possible.
With expected total distributions of 189% over twelve years, Doric Green Power represents an attractive investment in alternative energy. Doric's remuneration is partially success dependent as with Doric the investor comes first.
Doric Asset Finance Group offers investments in real assets – including commercial real estate, transportation and renewable energy. The experience of the Doric team and their access to a wide network of international contacts form the basis for the conception of successful long-term investments. These are managed by specialist teams for each sector, monitoring the stability and efficiency of the investments. Doric now manages assets worth just under EUR 1bn.
